Review Sanju Weds Geetha Kannada
It is a tragic story in ‘Sanju Weds Geetha’. The sordid tale gives a clue in the beginning itself and in the end it is ‘Sanju Weds Geetha’ in Heaven!
In the cool, rainy, hilly region of Virajpet Sanju (Srinagara Kitty) is bowled by the beauty of Geetha (Ramya). Sanju is an aspirant to get a job in United State of America. He has come on a holiday to live with his mother. After perfectly measured sentence ‘I will find whatever you lose in life’ changes the whole attitude of Geetha. The height of love reached a high point and becomes more respectable when Geetha narrate her childhood traumatic incident. Sanju loves Geetha immensely from this point of time. The childhood friend now causes a great worry when the marriage is set. In the rainy morning Sanju waiting at the temple with Mangalasutra but Geetha never turns up. He goes on his bike to trace Geetha and the childhood friend is the tormentor of Geetha who blocks her in the middle and draws her to a place. As expected Sanju enters the scene the bloody fight now results finally in Sanju killing the tormentor (played by Arun Sagar).
Geetha is hospitalized and Sanju is sentenced to imprisonment. In the memory of Geetha one day falls from a height and loses her memory. But before this in a meeting Sanju in the prison advices Geetha to get marry. The forced marriage and pregnancy after that for Geetha is shown as mad.
On the other hand the jail break for Sanju only results in severe bullet hits. At the place where Sanju lived in the jail after delivery of a child Geetha dies and even the baby.
The body of Sanju and Geetha travel in one ambulance to the graveyard.
Analysis:
Director Nagashekar has claimed something and done something else. He looks over confident in handling the subject. At some places this film is boring and drags a lot. No doubt that his conceiving of some of the scenes is brilliant. At places he is naughty too.
With a powerful criminal lawyer (paternal uncle to Geetha) and police connections how come the pregnant Geetha goes missing in such a small place? It is not a Bangalore city or any other big city. It is just Virajpet. It is an easy task to trace Geetha.
She is projected as mad when she lays in front of the prison in an unconscious stage. In the flash back she is projected as person with memory loss. There are a few more questions that get no answer from director Nagashekar.
The best use of cinematography, actress Ramya performance, and music has come to the help of director Nagashekhar. The hilly region of Coorg and often rain being a part of the film too there is some standard set.
Director Nagashekhar says that he has been doing the story for more than two years. He should have checked on his screenplay and made it is less cumbersome to the audience.
‘Beauty’ is the word often used. For the entire film this cannot be attributed.
Performance:
It is Ramya who carries the entire film. In Churidhar and Saree special songs she is glorious. The dialogue delivery from Ramya has been convincing. In performance she makes a cake walk.
Srinagara Kitty sometime goes expressionless. When his ‘Mama’ tells him in the prison that Geetha is suffering from memory loss he never reacts. Srinagara Kitty should have opened up in his acting instead of underplaying the role.
The battalions of supporting artists – Avinash, Ramesh Bhat, Suhasini, Jai Jagdish, Sharat Lohitashva, Umasri, Bullet Prakash and Sharan in the comedy, Rangayana Raghu as a desperate jail bird have really given good support.
Technicality:
Satya Hegde cinematography in some places are paintings. The Bidar fort, the night shots the mist of Coorg the rain effects are really worth watching.
Jaasie Gift not lags behind in giving lovely tunes. Three are melodious and one is peppy. The melodious best is Gaganave Baagi…. And next is the title song. Shreya Goshal deserves full praise for her melody rendering.
Last but not the Least:
Never wait alone with Mangalasutra! Take someone else help.
