Review Prema Chandrama Kannada
It is a saga of sacrifice very difficult to find such personalities in the modern days. ‘Prema Chandrama’ is a story that makes the audience to remember the 70’s kind of stories.Sanjay (Raghu Mukerjee) son of a colonel Srinath is considered dead on his journey to join Navy. His wife Chetana (Rekha) after some point of time is immensely liked by a doctor Vijay. After hearing the past of Chetana Dr Vijay agrees to marry her. Dr Vijay has one condition that the past of Chetana he would tell his mother when time comes.
At the interval block there is a similar guy looking like Sanjay working in a construction company. He has lost his memory. Chetana is surprised with this and Dr Vijay takes up this case as a special study in his life.
Chetana married to Dr Vijay is in perplex situation. What would happen if Sanjay get back his memory? After surgery to the head of Sanjay first to meet him was his father. At this meeting Sanjay disclose what happened in his life and takes promise from his father to say away from Chetana.
Father and son walks out and Sanjay pretend that he has not back his memory.
ANALYSIS:- ‘Prema Chandrama’ director Shahuraj Shindhe is decades old in narration and in picking up the script. The first half is very difficult to sit through because with many inconsequential scenes director tests the patience. In the second half lot of things could have been pruned.
With good technical team to his side director Shindhe can boast of good songs and good cinematography but he has not been able to take the acting from the main artists.
All the three artists Raghu Mukerjee, Rekha and Kiran does not open their mouth properly and speak. The screenplay that drags a lot if you feel it will be better in the coming reels it is not so.
The concept of losing memory is age old. The issues there after the protagonist sacrificing have also come and gone. At one place the director says there are two persons in this world look alike but corrects in the second half saying there are seven persons in this world who look similar.
The placement of songs is not in right order. It comes up on screen abruptly. Had the director chopped off half an hour and made this very fast in narration at least when the film comes to television the people would watch it.
PERFORMANCE:- It is difficult to give good marks for the three main characters – Raghu Mukerjee, Kiran and Rekha. They have not put in good efforts.
Raghu Mukerjee fails to deliver in the first half and in second half with moustache attached it does not jell well. Kiran has to immediately to go acting schools.
Rekha being a senior actress in South India has to take care of her pimples on forehead. There is no need for make up to Rekha. She is natural beauty. In the close ups this extra make up and pimples are uneasy to watch.
Veterans Srinath, Sumithra and Umasri are good in their roles. Producer Ganesh in the role of a cunning uncle voice modulation is painful to hear.
TECHNICALITY:- On the cinematography of HC Venu there is no complaint. The serene places, the ancient buildings, mountain, mist and lush greenery have come out well in his camera work.
V Harikrishna has given two melody tunes and one peppy song. Ommomme Yako…penned by Kaviraj, Kangalu Ondhadhavu…by Nagendra Prasad, Ellindalo Ondhu Swarga….penned by Kaviraj are well sung.
LAST BUT NOT THE LEAST:- Memory loss films are in plenty but audience memory is always good!
BORING AND PROTRACTED:- Score 2/5
