Review Sravana Kannada Movie 2011
Shravana the commencement of happiness or pleasure according to Hindu calendar is based on a woman and three unemployed youths. Change is the permanent thing in life. That change or new good era in the life of three youths is possible from the female protagonist. Three youths fall in love with Kalavathi (Gayathri Iyer). Knowing the discontentment in the life of Vijay (Vijaya Raghavendra) once he fails to get a job things work out different for Vijay. On the way helping out Vijay it is Kalavathi the love blossom and it is one sided.
As expected after the accident of Vijay the two friends come to help him in the marriage to Kalavathi. When Vijay comes with a proposal we are declared Kalavathi is married.
Now the part of ‘Ashada’ black days of Kalavathi is explained by the director Rajasekhar. Kalavathi to bring good name to the village and people she agreed for marriage to an illicit liquor dealer. The marriage in exchange of giving up all nefarious activities but there is opposition to it from Marthanda (Neenasam Ashwath).
Now we get to see the real ‘Shravana’ in the life of Kalavathi. How the youths help her is the crux of the story.
Analysis:
Director Rajasekhar in his debut for debut duo producer Mallikarjunaiah and KN Venkatesh has not looked at the commercial viability of the film. The trick of the trade is not put to use properly.
What director Rajasekhar should know is that the brevity and less trouble in the narration is very important. Focusing on his main issue what changes a woman can bring he has not made a tidy presentation on ‘Shravana’.
This kind of films should have come two and half decades ago. There are few films in the past that relate to the story line of this director Rajasekhar.
Of course Rajasekhar has picked good roles. They all look good on screen. But cutting down the unemployed problems and explaining the story with tricky screenplay he could have earned a good name for ‘Shravana’.
Performance:
Vijaya Raghavendra is a well known actor but his ability has not been properly put to use in the film. This kind of film is not made for actor like Vijaya Raghavendra cousin of century hero Shivarajakumar.
Gayathri Iyer has the good screen presence. Her traditional looks are competent enough. Bhuvan Chandra and Sandeep look good on screen but they should know what acting is. Among the villains Ninasam Harish and Ninasam Ashwath are OK.
Tachnicality:
Veteran cameraman of over 90 films K Vasudev has captured the locales of Tumkur in his camera very well. This film is shot entirely in Tumkur and surroundings.
Music director Karthik Bhupathy deserved to be better like the film on the whole. Out of three tunes no tune is worth carrying in the mind.
Last but not the Least:
Who cares for message and sacrifice!
