Review Gun Kannada Movie : Fails To Fire Miserably
The life of the protagonist is affected by a ‘Gun’ in two times in this film. Both the times he was about to accept the love. The life of engineering student Ganesh (Harish Raj) takes curious turn when beautiful Vandana (Nikitha) accept him in her life. At the last moment the bloody confusion in the market place where the cop is chasing the underworld don becomes very costly in the life of Ganesha. Wasim Khan brother from Dubai shoots at but it falls to Vandana. Frightened with this development Ganesha is lost in agony. He gives up his education and takes to drinking.
When Mallika (Mallika Kapoor) the TV6 journalist knows Ganesha is different she makes it a point to get education for him that becomes distant dream for him. That is mainly because the corporation councilor Wasim Khan is on the revenge saga. For the second time Ganesh on the verge of accepting the love faces the same situation. This time Mallika is hit by a bullet on the right shoulder.
In the clash of Wasim Khan and Ganesha lot of heads roll and the director takes the liberty of showing himself the protagonist as a cop in the end.
Analysis:
Like in ‘Kalakaar’ the home work in ‘Gun’ for director Harish Raj is well below the average. He loses the logic in the last scene when he returns as a cop till then the audience are in the impression he is Engineering student. That is very stupid thinking of director Harish Raj.
The consuming of liquor and going to bar the hero gulping bottles of liquor without a single paisa in his pocket is all outdated theory. How long the audience can sit idle and watch this kind of ill logical and imprecise scenes.
Director Harish Raj should have worked hard on the screenplay. Instead of going more to bars and capturing the scenes for his film he should have given a sober touch to his film.
As a slum boy studying engineering is OK but how come he gets so much of courage to attack so many at a time.
On acquiring the strength a simple common sense should have been used. Secondly director cum actor Harish Raj projects him as a cop. How come he suddenly becomes a cop?
The theory of songs, scenes – melodramatic and comedy are routine. The flash back narration is OK. Harish Raj a better actor than a director is a youngster is able to give new refreshing thoughts to his work. He should channelize the things properly and what are audience attention capturing scenes he should understand first.
Today’s cinema is run by screenplay more than the story. Captivating and absorbing scenes are a must to get the cash registers ringing.
Performance:
As an actor Harish Raj playing the hero is perfect. In the drunkard scenes he is natural. He looks very stylish in his looks with two beautiful girls – Nikitha and Mallika around in
song numbers.
Out of the two Nikitha is a better performer. But the tenderness in both the heroines is missing. They look more matured in their skin complexion.
Rangayana Raghu delivering the Muslim accent as Wasim Khan is once again good. He has never missed the accents when he comes on screen. PN Sathya is irritating.
Sundarasri a veteran stage actress voice is cumbersome to hear.
Technicality:
The songs and cinematography lifts the film. Ranni Raphel in the first song Enne Yaaru Kandu Hididdhu…. adds more of music but later on not missed the melody part. Bisi Bisi….sung by Ajay Warier is too good. Ella Ballava Ella Gellaballava….Taja Taaja Kanasugalu aaja AAja Enuthidhe…..are good.
HM Ramachandra and KM Vishnuvardhana share the camera work for the film. There is no complaint at all. The editing is fast and the background score for the film is noisy.
Last but not the least – Let the situation of holding the ‘Gun’ and getting the audience not come to this film.
